Replanting ;
Planting Tea in old tea lands Rs. 200000/= per hectare in high/mid grown districts and Rs. 190000/= per hectare in low grown districts up to maximum of one hectare per holding in five installments. Total Cost of establishment as at Dec. 2003. High/Mid Grown Districts - Rs. / Hec 725000 Low grown Districts - Rs. / Hec 650000 Supply of vacancies (Crop Rehabilitation) in mature Tea Rs. 10/= per plant up to maximum of 750 plants / Acre in low grown districts. 1000 plants / Acre in high grown districts. Multi-cropping in tea with Rubber and Coconut ; Planting Tea and Rubber/Coconut as avenue planting. Under
this scheme, planters can obtain loans for tea replanting from the financial
intitutes approved by the CB and TSHDA subsidize 50% of interest on each
loan. |
Social Development : Tea Small Holdings Development Societies In
order to legalized the Tea Small Holdings Development Society System commenced
in the latter part of year 1989, the Tea Small Holdings Society rule No
1 of 1995 by the gazette extra ordinary No 878/15 has been published by
the Tea Small Holdings Development Authority under the powers vested in
terms of para (k) of sub section 2 of section 15 of the Tea Small Holdings
Development Act. No 35 of 1975 enacted by the state council and amended
by Act No. 36 of 1991. By the end of the year there were 1218 registered
societies and the information which was available for registration is
indicated below. |
